Abutments, Piers, Arches

Originally the bridge had three arches, only one of which with a span of 4 m, a height of 2 m, and a width of 2 m, is still preserved. On the west side the piers were reinforced with pilasters that reached the height of the deck.

Material and Technique

The arch was constructed of stone plates (mainly schist); the spandrels show the characteristic Byzantine building technique of mortared rubble with leveling brick courses at regular intervals.

Current Condition

The most recent restoration ended in 2015.
